Living as nature intended
A happy herd
For our cattle, life is stress-free. We have a ‘closed system’ and run one herd, moving them to new pasture every day and allowing their community dynamics to thrive.
They support each other, tease one another, build friendships and maintain family ties. Our calves feed from their mums until they are naturally weaned (around 9-10 months old).
They are big talkers too, and when something is wrong they tell us in no uncertain terms! They know we’re good listeners and will do what we can to help.
We have chosen to breed with Shorthorn bulls. They are a calm-natured, heritage beef breed that grows well, have excellent marbling and are a bit smaller than some breeds which suits our soils.
And a healthy herd
We manage our cattle organically, so of course they are free of steroids, hormones and antibiotics (no nasties, whatsoever).
Health is promoted from the inside out, and the natural immune system is boosted with a nutritious and balanced pasture-based diet. We supplement this with freely available minerals and homeopathic products, so each animal can take what they need, as they need it.
